Wang Lab contributes to major Down syndrome paper

The Wang Lab, in collaboration with Waisman Center researchers, published an important paper titled Molecular and cellular processes disrupted in the early postnatal Down syndrome prefontal cortex in the journal Science.

Dr. Wang, post doc Dr. Kalpana Arachchilage, and BDS PhD student Jie Sheng, have been leading the computational analyses for this project. They explored early post-natal cortical development in Down syndrome using single-nucleus, multiomic sequencing.

The result of the analyses is the discovery that the temporal onset of Down syndrome-associated neurodegenerative process begins in the early postnatal period. This highlights the need for developing biomarkers and therapeutic strategies to address disease modification during early postnatal development.

Congratulations to Daifeng and his team!
