Research Administrator - Data Coordinating Center

Are you interested in clinical trials? Do you want to be a key player in moving research from the bench to the bedside? If so, the UW-Madison Department of Biostatistics and Medical Informatics in the School of Medicine and Public Health seeks a motivated, self-starting person for a 50%-time Research Administrator to support our new Data Coordinating Center.

The successful applicant for this position will manage operations for the new Clinical Trials Data Coordinating Center (DCC), a component of the Clinical Trials Program in the Department of Biostatistics and Medical Informatics (BMI) in the University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Medicine and Public Health. The DCC manages collaborative clinical trial projects, which will generally be NIH-funded Data Coordinating Centers, but could also include industry-funded clinical trials. The DCC plays a pivotal role in supporting, coordinating, and executing large multi-center clinical trial programs bringing the expertise in clinical trial design, conduct, monitoring, and analysis needed to complement the content expertise of the clinical investigators. The DCC also provides the structure and quality standards required for the design, conduct, monitoring, and analysis of trials. The DCC collaborates in protocol development and takes responsibility for statistical design and data analysis strategy as well data management, quality control, and assurance. The DCC provides common data collection forms and data management; statistical analysis; collaborates in manuscript preparation; and provides study training, coordination, and quality control and assurance, including coordinating the activities of data and safety monitoring boards (DSMBs), protocol review committees (PRCs), executive and steering committees, and other standing committees. Additional activities may include support of ancillary study activities, study drug acquisition and distribution, and support of websites or online resources for the program. It is possible that this position will become a full-time position as the DCC grows.

The UW-Madison Department of Biostatistics and Medical Informatics is seeking a Researcher with a passion for data science, a Masters’ degree in Statistics, Biostatistics, Biometry, or a similar field, and a proficiency in SAS, R, and/or Stata. Previous experience in the application of statistics to biological or biomedical research, clinical trials or other clinical research, health services research, and/or population health is highly desirable. Ability to work in teams with other statisticians and biomedical specialists and to communicate statistical ideas to non-specialists required.
